Saudi Arabia builds $107m water treatment plant
National Water Co. (NWC) has completed constructing the largest wastewater treatment plant in oil-rich Saudi Arabia, according to Bloomberg.
The SAR 400 million ($107 million) project in Riyadh is the sixth-of-its-kind in Saudi Arabia. It will produce 400,000 cubic meters of treated water a day by the end of the year to serve the growing urban population.
NWC is also building the biggest water storage facility in the Kingdom’s most populous city at a cost of SAR 1.8 billion.
Chief Executive Officer Luay Al Musallam said the Saudi projects are part of a SAR 51 billion water resource investment in cities including the capital, Mecca and port of Jeddah.
