Hassan Kabbani, chief executive of Saudi Mobile Telecommunications Co. (Saudi Zain), said it is normal that the companies working in the same field have partnerships, and dispute is expected about some points.
Kabbani told Mubasher U Program that the dues Mobily claimed to be owed by Saudi Zain was surprising, as it is impossible that Zain owes such huge dues, given the company’s volume of operations.
Mobily said it owed SAR 2.2 billion by Saudi Zain. “We ask Mobily officials to provide us with the documents upon which they calculated these figures,” Kabbani said.
He confirmed that it is known that Zain does not have any problems with clients or suppliers in general.
It was surprising that Mobily raised such an issue at this timing, especially after announcing some unclear points in its financial statements, the chief executive said. He added that Mobily justified its position through declaring it has a problem with Zain.
If a company has a problem, it does not have to share it with other companies, Kabbani said. He added that Zain will exert efforts to safeguard its shareholders.
