Spanish firm seeks regional presence boost through 1st Saudi substation contract

 

Isolux Corsan, a Spanish engineering and construction firm, announced winning an award for the construction of two 115 kV substations in Al Hasa, Saudi Arabia.

Awarded by Saudi Arabia's National Grid, the project is Isolux’s first in Saudi Arabia. It is also set to be completed within a period of 27 months, the Madrid-based revealed company, adding that the project totals at $40 million.

Isolux Corsan will build of two new substations and modify the existing substation at Al-Uqair, it said, adding the project entails the design, material supply, testing and commissioning of two substations, as well as the modified substation. Isolux will also provide equipment for the automation system.

It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia has one of the highest energy production capacities in the world.

Through this contract, Isolux Corsan seeks to boost its presence in the region.

The Spanish firm is also currently working on expanding and improving the Bidbid South Freeway in Oman, for a total value of EUR 174 million. The Omani project involves the widening from two to four lanes of the freeway, added to improving a 56-km section.
