Saudi Kayan said it plans to close some production units for periodical, scheduled maintenance, according to a bourse statement.

The olephins plant will be shut down for five weeks as of February 1, 2015. The company’s factories using olephins in production will continue working at the normal production levels, except for the ethylene glycol plant which will reduce its production by 10%, low-density polyethylene plant which will reduce production by 3% and high-density polyethylene which will reduce production by 30% during this period.

Moreover, the ethylene glycol/ethylene oxide factory will be closed for 60 days starting from October 1, 2015. Accordingly, the polycarbonates factory will be closed for 75 days, the amines plant (65 days) and ethoxylates plant (61 days) because of their dependence on ethylene oxide.

The relevance financial impact is estimated at nearly SAR 340 million, which will reflect on Q4-15 financial results.
