Norway-based MegaSys said it is working with Saudi Aramco on discovering natural gas in the Red Sea through conducting a geological survey on the area, according to Al-Yaum newspaper.

Ivar James, CEO of the Norwegian company, told Bloomberg that MegaSys is conducting seismic surveys to get three-dimensional images of a small area in the Red Sea.

He added that one of the company's ships are currently in the Red Sea in preparation for the work, noting that the survey will continue until the end of February.

Reuters reported recently that Aramco halted its discovery operations in the deep water of Red Sea because of high costs, adding that the company is lowering expenses amid the decline in oil prices.
