Riyadh-Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s Council of Competition has called upon the ministry of commerce and industry to review the viability of setting cement prices, local Okaz newspaper reported.

The proposals were part of a study conducted by the council on the local cement market, companies and future needs.

The cement consumption reached nearly 35 million tonnes during the first half of 2015, rising 5% compared with the same period a year ago, according to the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA).

The kingdom plans to establish three plants and new production lines to fulfill growing demand.
