CAPMAS: Egypt's inflation jumps to 10.9% Y-O-Y in April
CPI rises to 10.9% year-over-year

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 10.9% during April 2016, compared with 9.2% in April 2015, said the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The price index thus went 1.5% higher on a monthly basis to 182.6 points against 180 points a month earlier, the state-run statistics body added.

The rise in Inflation is mainly ascribed to increasing prices of rice, poultry and meat products, medicines, fast foods, vegetables, fish and seafood, fruits, as well as tea, CAPMAS indicated.

Egypt's annual inflation rate fell by 9.2% in March 2016, compared to 9.5% in February and 10.7% in January 2016, CAPMAS said earlier.
