Mubasher: Arab Banking Corporation (ABC) will participate in establishing the first copper tube manufacturing facility in the Middle East in Bahrain.

The project is a joint venture between three companies, namely Mueller Middle East, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, and Cayan Industrial Projects. The project will create over 200 jobs, according to a statement published on the bank’s website on Wednesday.

The facility will produce commercial copper tubes to serve regional air conditioning and refrigeration original equipment manufacturers. The production is scheduled to commence in January 2018, the bank stated.

“Mumtalakat is committed to further developing the Kingdom’s non-oil sectors. Further, the copper tube mill will boost exports from the industrial sector, which currently accounts for 20% of Bahrain’s GDP,” Mahmood Alkooheji, CEO of Mumtalakat, said.
