Cairo - Decypha: The borrowers of emerging markets have registered $181 billion in international bond issuance in Q1 2017, exceeding previous levels.

The sovereign issuance hiked to $61.5 billion from year-to-date; $16 billion more than the corresponding period in 2016, said a recent report from JPMorgan.

Emerging market companies have gone beyond the $109.6 billion highest figure reported in Q1 2013, to record $119.1 billion in Q1 2017, according to JPM.

Doubling the March 2016 figure, issued bonds registered $51 billion in March, compared to $21.8 billion sold in the same month last year, “and above the average March supply of $28.4 billion,” the report stated.

Sovereign bond issuance is estimated to stand at $137 billion in 2017, with the corporate sales registering $315 billion.

So far this year, emerging debt sovereign funds have marked $26.5 billion, while the corporate registered $72 billion, JPM added.
