Mubasher: Tunisia’s finance minister has said that Tunisia will receive $1 billion in funds from Qatar on Wednesday, the country’s official news channel Radio Tataouine reported .

These facilities will be allocated to supporting the Tunisian budget, Lamia Zribi added.

The facility includes $500 million in refinancing that would be earmarked to repay a Qatari loan and a $500 million Qatari deposit with the central bank that must be paid as soon as possible, the minister stated.

These funds were announced by Qatar’s Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani during the investment conference "Tunisia 2020", Zribi said, noting that other funds worth $250 million were announced to finance several Tunisian public projects.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently forecast a 2.5% growth for the Tunisian economy in 2017, compared to 1.3% in 2016.
