Mubasher: The main index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) closed 0.14%, or 7.94 points, down to 5,466.61 points on Monday.

The index was weighed down by the decline of its blue-chip stocks like Al Maha Ceramics Company which shed 2.44%, followed by Gulf Investment Services Holding at 1.87% and Ahli Bank at 1.58%.

All sectors decreased, led by the industry which sank 0.59% as Oman Fisheries and Oman Textile Holding lost 4.35% and 1.57%, respectively.

The services sector tumbled 0.13% as Sohar Power slid 8.11% and United Power levelled down 4.41%.

The financial sector went down 0.05% as Al Sharqiya Investment Holding retreated 0.88% and Bank Muscat inched down 0.5%. However, Oman and Emirates Investment Holding led risers with a 1.82% increase.

Trading volume rose to 12.29 million shares on Monday from 10.99 million shares on Sunday, while turnover fell to OMR 2.35 million compared to OMR 2.35 million in the previous session.
