QSE falls in week amid higher liquidity

Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) lost 1.48% or 151.75 points to reach 10,089.86 points in the week ended 27 April from 10,241.61 points in the previous week.

The market’s turnover increased by 18.63% to total QAR 1.15 billion from QAR 970.06 million in the past week, while trading volume decreased by 0.09% to 45.05 million shares from 45.09 million a week ago.

QSE’s market cap declined by 1.72% to QAR 542.73 billion ($148.9 billion) this week from QAR 552.22 billion ($151.5 billion) in the prior week; a week-on-week loss of QAR 9.49 billion.

In terms of the number of traded shares, the banks sector topped segments with 29.68% of the markets overall trading volume. 

Vodafone Qatar acquired 10.66% of the overall liquidity this week, followed by QNB with 8.5%.
