Cairo – Mubasher: The Iraqi Ministry of Oil has announced on Thursday that the first batch of crude oil shipments made its way to Egypt through the southern ports.

The loading operations of the Egyptian tanker crude oil began on 3 May, consisting of 2 million out of 12 million barrels, the spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, Assam Jihad, stated.

Earlier in May, the Egyptian minister of petroleum and mineral resources had said that Egypt will receive the first shipments of Iraqi oil on 12 May.

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum had announced in April that Saudi Aramco resumed the shipment of petroleum products in accordance with the commercial contract signed between both sides.

The fuel needs of the most populous Arab country amount to 6.5 million tonnes, part of which is supplied from domestic production, while the rest is imported.
