Mubasher: The French president, Emmanuel Macron, has appointed Édouard Philippe as the country’s new prime minister.

The newly-chosen PM is the mayor of Le Havre, and a member of the centre-right the Republicans party or “Les Républicains”.

This comes as Macron, who was sworn in yesterday as the president of the France, aims to commence his proposed economic reforms, led by those regarding labour laws.

Last week, Emmanuel Macron was elected as the new president of the French republic, after winning 66% of the vote, defeating far-right candidate, Marine Le Pen.

France is anticipating the parliamentary elections, which is set to take place next month.
