Qatar Emir names new QCB governor

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) on Thursday said that the country’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani issued Decree no. 14 of 2017 to form a new board and appointed Abdullah Saoud Al-Thani as the QCB governor.

The new board will commence work starting 19 June, a statement by the QCB showed, noting that the emir appointed Fahad Faisal Al-Thani as a deputy governor.

Saleh Mohammad Al Nabit, minister of development planning and statistics; Ibrahim Al-Ibrahim, Khalaf Ahmad Almanai, representatives of the Ministry of Finance; and Sultan Bin Rashid Al-Khater, the representative of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, were appointed as board members.

The board has a tenure for four years, subject to renewal.
