Bahrain Bourse edges up in week; liquidity rises

Mubasher: The Bahrain Bourse's benchmark index edged up 0.13% or 1.67 points to end the week at 1,308.76 points.

All of the market's sectors ended the week in the green, with the exception of the tourism sector which fell 0.61%, pressured by Banader Hotels' 7.69% plunge.

The industry sector led risers, adding 0.47% on the back of Aluminum Bahrain (ALBA) which increased 0.48%, while the banking sector grew 0.18%, backed by Ithmaar Holding's 3.45% gain.

The insurance sector levelled up 0.13% after Arab Insurance Group (ARIG) grew 1.1%.

The investment and services sectors edged up 0.04% each, on the back of Inovest's 10% surge and Bahrain Commercial Facilities' 2.21% rise, respectively.

Ithmaar Holding was the most active in terms of traded volume with 8.99 million shares exchanged.

Traded volume surged 75.4% to 21 million shares in the week ended Thursday, from 12 million in the week before, while turnover grew 48% to BHD 4.2 million from BHD 2.84 million.
