Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE has allocated AED 300 million to support the reduction of prices of 10,000 commodities during the holy month of Ramadan, according to Hashim Saeed Al Nuaimi, the director of the Ministry’s Consumer Protection Department and Rapporteur of the Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection.

The discount campaigns in 2017 are AED 50 million higher than similar campaigns during the 2016 season, he added during a media briefing on consumer protection measures in the UAE in preparation for the Ramadan season.

The Ministry of Economy has set a plan to get ready for Ramadan, he said, adding that there is no shortage in key commodities like rice, flour, and cooking oil, and that prices are maintained at current levels.

He said that discounts of as much as 50% to 75% will be given on goods.
