Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has announced awarding its tender for importing 1.5 million tonnes of barley.

The imported tonnes will come from Australia, North and South America, the European Union, and the Black Sea, according to a statement published on the organisation's website.

Around 26 international companies specialised in the field of grain trade were invited by the organisation, while 24 firms enrolled to compete on the quantities offered, the director general of the organisation, Ahmed Al Faris, said.

The import tender will take place from July to August 2017 and will be transported through 25 shipments, the statement added.

Al Faris noted that this represents the third shipment for 2017, so that the total volume of barley contracted since the beginning of the year amounts to 4.510 million tonnes.
