QSE ends Tuesday down on transportation, real estate

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Tuesday in the red zone after losing 0.12% or 11.9 points to reach 10,123 points.

Most of the sectors fell, with the exception of the banks sector which rose 0.58% and the telecoms sector that edged up 0.06%.

The transportation sector dropped 0.73% as Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd (Nakilat), Qatar Navigation (Milaha), and Gulf Warehousing declined 0.83%, 0.73%, and 0.39%, respectively.

The real estate sector decreased 0.63% after Barwa went down 0.73%, followed by Ezdan Holding Group with 0.7%, and United Development Company with 0.1%.

The industrials sector levelled down 0.48% as Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) and Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding tumbled 1.86% and 0.49%, respectively.

Zad Holding Company led risers with 4.43%, whereas Qatar Islamic Insurance was the worst performer with 2.88%.

Traded volume dropped to 7.24 million shares on Tuesday against 8.39 million shares on Monday, while turnover slid to QAR 202.07 million from QAR 274.98 million.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock led in terms of trading volume with 1.91 million shares exchanged, while Masraf Al Rayan was the most active stock in terms of liquidity at a value of QAR 33.72 million.

Earlier on Tuesday, the benchmark index rose 0.32% reaching 10,167.2 points.
