Egypt, Bombardier ink new capital monorail agreement
Egypt's New Administrative Capital to be completed in the next five to six years

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) and Canada's Bombardier Company have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to study the establishment of a monorail from Nasr City to New Cairo and the new administrative capital.

The vice chairman of NUCA said that the Canadian company will conduct the economic and financial studies needed for the project.

Mazin Hassan added that the studies will be in coordination with the ministry of transportation, as it will provide Bombardier with all the needed data such as the location and the existing infrastructure along the monorail’s route, as well as the number of passengers, which is expected to reach 1.5 million.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi previously said that Egypt is planning to open the first stage of the new administrative capital by 2018, while the whole project is expected to be completed within five to six years.
