Qatar closes helium factories after Arab boycott
Qatar is the second largest helium producer in the world

Mubasher: Qatar has closed its two helium production plants after the decision by several Arab countries to cut relations and close borders with Doha, as reported by Reuters.

The helium plants operated by RasGas, a subsidiary of state-owned Qatar Petroleum, were shut after Saudi Arabia closed its border with Qatar, blocking overland exports of the gas, officials in Qatar Petroleum (QP) told Reuters.

The two factories have an annual production capacity of around 2 billion cubic feet, and can meet around 25% of the global demand on helium.
