Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) saw a positive performance on Thursday following a volatile session, backed by five stocks led by investment and real estate.

The general index rose 0.25% or 8.66 points to reach 3,459.44 points.

The market was backed by active trades on blue-chip and mid-cap stocks, according to financial analyst Gamal Saad.

The market’s rebound on Thursday is not a sign that the main index will continue its uptrend amid investors’ caution despite Emaar Properties' recent positive news, Saad added.

Emaar Hospitality Group won a new contract in Saudi Arabia, and Emaar had earlier announced a plan to offer up to 30% of its UAE property development business through an initial public offering (IPO) on Dubai’s bourse.

The investment sector topped gainers with a 1.45% rise as Dubai Investments went up 2.34%.

The real estate sector grew 0.62% after Union Properties (UP) and Emaar Properties increased 2.14% and 1.3%, respectively.

The transportation sector rose 0.2% as Air Arabia levelled up 0.97%.
