Cairo – Mubasher: Security personnel in northern Sinai succeeded in thwarting terrorists at a number of checkpoints near the Rafah border, colonel Tamer El Refaie, a spokesperson for the Egyptian Armed Forces, said Friday.

In the process, security forces killed over 40 terrorists and destroyed six vehicles, he added.

Earlier on Friday, Reuters reported that two bomb attacks had taken place when vehicles exploded at checkpoints on a road outside the border city of Rafah, resulting in the death and injuring of 26 members of security forces.
