Mubasher: German exports surged to a new record high in May, reflecting a recovery in global demand since the beginning of the year.

According to a report issued by the Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis) on Monday, the value of exports went up by 1.4% year-on-year, reaching EUR 107.9 billion ($123.1 billion).

Member countries of the European Union were the biggest importer from Germany in May, with an increase of 11.8% compared to the same period in 2016.

On the other hand, German imports also grew during the same time by 1.2% year-on-year to EUR 87.6 billion.
