ECRA revenues drop to SAR 139m in 2016 – Report

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA) said its revenues fell to SAR 138.8 million in 2016, from SAR 141.8 million in 2015, according to a new report.

ECRA generated revenues of SAR 72.2 million from the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), SAR 32.9 million from National Grid SA Co, and SAR 12.8 million from the Saline Water Conversion Corp (SWCC), in addition to revenues from other firms, the report added.

The electricity generation capacity of licenced entities reached to 87,754 megawatt (MW), of which SEC owns 68% and SWCC owns 9%, the report showed.

The authority’s expenses in the fiscal year 2016 amounted to SAR 131.7 million, compared to SAR 135.4 million in 2015.

Salaries, wages and, allowances topped ECRA's expenses logging SAR 44.3 million, while social insurance expenses amounted to SAR 4.3 million, and studies’ and consultancies’ expenses were estimated at SAR 13.4 million.

Capital expenses amounted to SAR 6.9 million, the Saudi authority said, noting that its total cash reserves amounted to about SAR 150.1 million.

In 2016, ECRA said it spent SAR 120 million on establishing permanent headquarters.
