Kuwait – Mubasher: Kuwait's trade surplus with Japan witnessed a 46.1% year-on-year growth to JPY 25.6 billion ($228.7 million) in June, according to data released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Thursday.

Kuwait’s imports from Japan dropped 10.2% to JPY 13.19 billion ($117.9 million) in June 2017.

On the other hand, Kuwait’s exports to Japan increased 20.4% to JPY 38.80 billion ($356.7 million), which is the lowest value for Kuwait’s exports since the beginning of 2017.

Despite a 9.7% growth in Japan’s overall exports, the Asian country’s trade balance surplus dropped sharply on the back of higher imports.

In May 2017, Kuwait's trade surplus with Japan registered a hike of 95.7% to reach JPY 48.493 billion, the highest level since February.
