Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday announced that members’ exports and re-exports increased over 6% in the first half of 2017, according to a press release.

The value of exports and re-exports reached AED 146.7 billion in H1-17, from AED 138.3 billion in the corresponding period in the year earlier.

The number of the chamber’s members reached 8,900, while 465,680 certificates of origin and 69 temporary admission carnets (ATA) worth AED 24.6 million were issued in H1-17.

In April, the chamber inaugurated an office in Sao Paulo in Brazil in partnership with Google.

It also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Souq.com in order to expand the members’ access to the region’s growing e-commerce sector.

“The growth in member exports came despite challenging global economic conditions,” the press release cited the president and CEO of Dubai Chamber, Hamad Buamim, as saying. He added that Dubai-based companies have taken a pro-active approach to exploring trade and investment opportunities in promising markets around the world.
