Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabian Oil Company’s (Aramco) production management team in the offshore oil field Safaniya were able to resume operations in Zuluf 3 to separate gas from oil after a 21-year halt, according to a statement on Sunday.

In July 2016, the company created a competent team after the board's decision of reopening the oil refinery, Aramco added.

Aramco noted that after a careful study of the oil refinery’s condition, including the examination of equipment, pipes, and utility services, and the estimation of the project’s cost and period, the oil field was found in a poor condition due to the climate impcat of the surrounding marine environment, causing the corrosion of several equipment and machines.

The total output of Zuluf's four refineries reached about 700,000 barrels per day, while production of pumping operations amounted to 800,000 bpd, which is the largest output in the world for an offshore oil field, according to the statement.
