Cairo – Mubasher: The chairman of Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel), Atef Hassan, on Monday said that work in Zohr field progressed by 83.5%, with investments worth EGP 4 billion until August.

Hassan added, during the firm’s annual general meeting (AGM) to approve financial results of its subsidiary Petro Shorouk for FY16/17, that seven wells were drilled, as the company is speeding up the process of linking the initial phase’s wells for production on time, according to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum.

Working on the establishment of the wild treatment plant and the maritime facilities in Port Said is being intensified, he noted, pointing out that the maritime control platform in Zohr field is currently under construction.

Egypt's Minister of Petroleum, Tarek El-Molla, had said last week that investments in Zohr field stood at $12 billion, and they are planned to reach $15.6 billion after finishing the project.
