EGP 4bn invested in Egypt's medical sector - Minister
The volume of medical equipment and devices stood at $900 million

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s minister of trade and industry Tarek Kabil on Tuesday said that the number of firms working in the medical sector amounts to 230 companies, with investments worth EGP 4 million.

Nabil added, in his statement during the strategic development of medical equipment’s seminar organised by the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), that the volume of medical equipment and devices stood at $900 million, of which 75% are imported and 25% are locally made.

The minister stressed the importance of encouraging and bolstering the medical industry in Egypt, in order to give the opportunity to the Egyptian product to compete in the international markets and to decrease the trade balance deficit.
