Mubasher: Tunisian tourism revenues have increased by 19% so far in 2017, with the number of tourists rising to 4.58 million between 1 January and 10 August, according to tourism minister Salma Loumi.

The number of Algerian visitors surged 60%, supported by a promotional campaign by Tunisia, while visits by European tourists rose by 16%, which is signaling a recovery in a vital sector crippled two years ago by attacks on foreign as reported by Reuters.

"There are good indicators, revenues rose by 19% to TND 1.5 billion ($613 million)", the news agency quoted Loumi’s remarks to reporters on Tuesday.

Tunisian officials expect the number of foreign tourists to rise to 6.5 million this year, rising by about 30% year-on-year, due to an improving security situation and interest from new markets including Russia, this however would still be below a record 6.9 million visitors seen in 2010.
