Brazilian coffee imports hike 30% in 2017
Lebanon was the top buyer with $29.9 million imports

Mubasher: The Arab region imported $122 million worth of coffee during the first half of 2017, according to the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC).

The coffee imports to the Arab region resulted in Brazilian revenues worth $112 million in revenues during the first seven months of 2017, increasing 29.7% from the year before, with a 1.2% rise in export volume, ABCC added in a press release.

Lebanon was the top buyer with $29.9 million, followed by Jordan at $14.6 million, Saudi Arabia at $12.9 million, and the United Arab Emirates at $10.2 million. 

Globally, Brazil's overall revenue recorded from international coffee exports rose 7.2% to $2.9 billion, with the US being the top importer accounting for a 20% share, followed by Germany with 17.5%, Italy with 9%, Japan with 7.1%, and Belgium with 6%.

“We expect to witness larger demand for this product in the Arab market over the next few years,” Michel Alaby, secretary general and CEO of ABCC, said.
