EGX30 passes 13,700 pts; market cap gains EGP 2.5bn
EGX closes Tuesday marginally up

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday up on the back of Egyptian and Arab investors’ buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index added 0.22% or 29.71 points to the level of 13,704.13 points.

The EGX70 index inched up 0.22% to 772.44 points, while the EGX100 index grew 0.24% to 1,707.85 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index edged up 0.74% to 2,266 points.

Trading volume stood at 617.13 million shares exchanged through 36,400 transactions at a turnover of EGP 1.33 billion.

Orascom Telecom led blue chips, rising 8.33%, followed by Arabian Food Industries Co (Domty) and Oriental Weavers, which levelled up 4.41% and 3.67%, respectively.

On the other hand, Citadel Capital, Sixth of October for Development and Investment (SODIC), and Heliopolis Company for Housing and Development fell 5.71%, 4.16%, and 3.48%, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) shed 0.27% to EGP 81.41, with a turnover of EGP 100.5 million.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 738.14 billion, gaining EGP 2.48 billion.

Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 51.04 million and EGP 3.6 million, respectively, while foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 54.6 million.
