Mubasher: Home prices in China posted a weak growth in major cities amid the government policies to cool the property market.

Out of 70 cities, home prices in 44 cities rose in September, which is the lowest level since January 2016, compared to 46 cities in August, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China on Monday.

The data had previously shown last week the sales of houses in China fell 2.4% year-on-year in terms of value and 5.7% in terms of location for the first time since March 2015.

By 11:16 am GMT, the Chinese yuan inched down 0.3% to 6.6389 CNY against the US dollar.
