Eurozone in strong broad growth, Brexit risk looms - IMF
Eurozone saw a year and a half of stable growth but the Brexit could negatively affect both the zone and the UK

Mubasher: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Monday that the European economy is now hitting its stride, according to the latest Regional Economic Outlook report, as reported by Reuters on Monday.

The report noted that the current economic recovery in the region looks increasingly assured, however, the IMF warned that a disruptive Brexit could result in appreciably lower growth for both Britain and the Eurozone.

The recovery in the region looks increasingly durable and this is partly attributed to the central bank stimulus and low interest rates, as well a rise in investments in a number of economies.

The deputy director of the IMF’s European Department, Joerg Decressin said that growth in the euro area has been positive for 18 quarters, lately around 2.5%, with many eastern European countries achieving a growth rate of around or above 3%.

“This recovery has not only become broader but also stronger,” Decressin told Reuters.
