Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s production index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, fell 2.9% month-on-month in September to 126.19 from 129.95 points, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Sunday.

The CAPMAS attributed this drop to the declining production of air conditioning as the winter season is about to start and to the Eid Al Adha holiday in September.

On the other hand, the index of materials and chemical products surged 17.1% to 141.08.21 points in September 2017 from 120.45 points in August 2017.

Likewise, the index of coal and petroleum products rose 11.2% to 40.93 points in September, compared to 36.80 points in August due to the stable gas supplying and the increasing demand from iron and steel factories.

The food industries index dropped 10.4% to 143.65 points in September, versus 160.29 points in August, while the machines and equipment index, including air conditioners and household appliances, dwindled 29.9% 231.05 points, compared to 340.86 points.
