QInvest exits US real estate murabaha transaction – CEO
Markets in the Arab region saw negative conditions that affected the economy in 2017

Mubasher: QInvest on Sunday announced its successful exit from the US real estate mezzanine murabaha transaction, which includes 17 assets generating an internal rate of return (IRR) of 14.9% over the past 20 months, according to QInvest’s statement.

QInvest is one of the leading investment companies in Qatar and across the world, as it works mainly in investment banking, asset management, and principle investments.

Tamim Al Kawari, CEO of QInvest, said that markets in the Arab region saw negative conditions that affected the economy in 2017, but this did not affect the bank’s investment in the real estate sector across the world, as the bank has achieved a return about 15% over 20 months.

Al Kawari added, “Across the year, we have seen strong performance within our Real Estate division demonstrating the sustainability and resilience of our business strategy and professionalism of our team. We will continue to invest in key global markets on an opportunistic basis as we focus on delivering sustainable value for clients and shareholders”.

The bank’s priority is investing in the real estate market as part of its strategy, head of real estate investments and advisory at QInvest, Craig Cowie, stated, adding that it has exited several transactions in 2017 ended by the US mezzanine murabaha of 17 assets.

Cowie added, “Since inception, the Real Estate division has invested over $1 billion of QInvest’s balance sheet and advised on transactions with an aggregate value of over $4 billion. We are committed to providing effective financing solutions for real estate transactions in Qatar and in international markets, such as Continental Europe, UK, and the US.”

The bank participated in a recent event entitled “Doing Business and Investing in the United State and Qatar Forum”.

The head of the bank’s real estate division, Vaughn Weatherdon, highlighted that QInvest’s investment opportunities in the US were beneficial.
