Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi cost of living index,urban consumer price inflation shed 0.2% year-on-year in October 2017, remaining negative for the tenth consecutive month, Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) said on Tuesday.
The decrease was attributed to a drop in prices of seven sections, led by garments and footwear section with 3.2%, recreation and culture with 2.3%, and transport with 2.2%, the GASTAT added.
Furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance sections tumbled 1.9%, followed by restaurants and hotels with 1.5%, food and beverages with 1.2%, and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels with 0.3%.
On the other hand, tobacco, education, miscellaneous goods and services, telecommunications, and healthcare section prices levelled up 100%, 2.5%, 1%, 0.8%, and 0.6%, respectively.
On a monthly basis, Saudi Arabian core inflation decreased 0.2% to 137.5 points in October, compared to 137.8 points in September.
