Mubasher: Electric car maker Tesla Inc is to trial world's largest lithium ion battery facility in South Australia by December 2017. In July, Tesla announced that it would build the facility within 100 days.
The new facility will be an important part in our energy mix, as Australia is expected to be a leading hub in renewable energy and energy storage, Premier of South Australia Jay Weatherill said on Thursday.
“Battery storage is the future of our national energy market, and the eyes of the world will be following our leadership in this space,” according to Jay Weatherill.
Tesla won the bid jointly with the French company Neoen, the construction took place at Hornsdale Wind Farm.
The facility storage capacity is 100 MW/129 MWh, and it will cover around 30,000 homes at maximum capacity.
