Riyadh – Mubasher: Al Sorayai Trading and Industrial Group on Thursday announced commencing actual production at its calcium carbonate plant.

Production began on Wednesday, 22 November, the Saudi company said in a bourse filing, highlighting that the financial impact of this step would appear in its financial statements for the first quarter of 2018.

In July, the trading and industrial firm had announced that experimental operations of the first phase of its calcium carbonate plant had begun, forecasting that actual production would begin in the first half of October 2017.

Also in July, Al Sorayai’s board approved the resignation of the company’s CEO Vassilis Agapitos and the appointment of Wael Saad Abdul Aziz Al Rashed as new CEO.

Al Sorayai’s stock closed Thursday at a slight rise of 0.13% to SAR 7.52.
