France’s Schneider Electric mulls new investments in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed doubling investments in Egypt with Schneider Electric’s CEO Jean-Pascal Tricoire in light of the investment opportunities offered by the current projects in the country.

Schneider Electric is determined to maximise its role in connecting electricity to remote areas via solar energy technology and participating in Egypt’s development process, the presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement on Thursday.

"The global company also aims at bolstering the Egyptian government's objectives to reinforce economic growth, build human capacity, create jobs, and help to establish specialised training centres," Rady continued.

Moreover, El-Sisi highlighted key factors Egypt follows in executing major projects, including the minimisation of material cost, credit facilities provision, and prompt implementation.

Companies should come up with competitive offers, taking into account contribution in the development process that Egypt currently witnesses, the president added.

The government is currently focusing on establishing major projects with huge investment opportunities, Rady mentioned, pointing out that the Egyptian market is one of the largest markets in the Middle East.
