Mubasher: Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced on Wednesday that he would run for re-election in March 2018.

Putin, who is 65 year old, would serve his fourth presidential term, if he wins the next election, and he will be eligible to serve another six years until 2024, when he turns 72.

The former KGB agent has been in power since 2000, where he served for two terms as presidents, and then as prime minister from 2008 to 2012 when Dmitry Medvedev served as a one term president, only for Putin to return to the Kremlin since then.
