Dubai – Mubasher: UAE-based National Central Cooling Co. (Tabreed) signed a three-year cooperation agreement with Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company Masdar to operate and enhance Masdar’s first district cooling plant.

Under the deal, Tabreed will manage the cooling plant, in addition to operating and implementing maintenance services on the behalf of Masdar, according to a statement on Tuesday to the Dubai Financial Market (DFM).

Tabreed will also carry out regular maintenance works of onsite equipment, water pumps, diagnostic, and planned maintenance, the statement added.

In the first phase of the Masdar district cooling plant, Tabreed will provide 6,000 tonnes of refrigeration of the planned 94,000 for the area.

“Selecting the right partner to support for the operations and maintenance of our first district cooling plant was key. The plant is a central part of the smart energy system we are building at Masdar,” Masdar’s CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said.

“We are delighted to be working with Masdar to support their district cooling and sustainability needs,” Jasim Thabet, Tabreed’s CEO stated.
