Mubasher: Gold prices rose for the eighth straight session in the first day of trading in the New Year, heading towards its longest rising streak since mid-2011.
By 10:00 am GMT, gold futures grew 0.34% to $1,313.80 per ounce, exceeding their highest level since 26 September 2017 and maintaining their strong gains.
Meanwhile, the Bloomberg US dollar spot index fell by 0.47% to 91.8030.
Last year, gold prices jumped 14% as the dollar index declined 8.5%, its largest decrease since at least 2005.
