Mubasher: The world economy may see humble growth, while inflation rates are expected to increase, according to Standard Chartered Bank’s Wealth Management Advisory Outlook for 2018.

“Growth accelerated in 2017, but inflation did not,” said Steve Brice, chief investment strategist at Standard Chartered Bank.

The world economy will recover gradually, allowing for more rapid growth, whose rates could keep pace with the rates of the inflation, Brice added.

“We suggest investors continue to tilt towards equities, which generally do well in the late stage of the economic cycle,” Gautam Duggal, regional head of Wealth Management for Africa, the Middle East, and Europe commented.  

Investors should increase allocations to diversified alternative strategies, which probably are less volatile than traditional asset classes, Duggal added.
