Cairo – Mubasher: The prices of railway tickets in Egypt are set to be increased within two weeks, Egypt’s transport minister Hisham Arafat told ON E TV.

The Egyptian National Railways’ (ENR) monthly losses amounted to EGP 200 million since July 2017 due to higher prices of diesel, Arafat added.

The ENR shall pay off the fuel consumption cost to the petroleum ministry, the minister highlighted, noting that it could not be paid due to the huge gap between the authority’s revenues and expenses.

Given that Egypt’s transport ministry is planning to increase the prices of railway tickets by 20% to 25%.
