Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) on Tuesday awarded the raft foundation contract for one of its Uptown Dubai project’s two towers to HLG company.

The raft foundation work on the first tower will require 12,000 cubic metres of concrete and 1,500 tonnes of reinforcement steel, the DMCC revealed.

Scheduled for completion by June 2018, the first tower comprises hotel rooms and suites, restaurants, health spas, conference facilities, and 240 residences, the centre added. 

“DMCC’s Uptown Dubai development is well underway as planned, with piling, shoring, and now raft foundation construction by HLG, commencing in March,” said Paul Ashton, executive director for property at DMCC.

The first tower will be completed by the launch of Expo 2020 Dubai, the top official concluded.

The Expo 2020 Dubai is a $7 billion exhibition center project expected to attract 25 million visitors.
