Mubasher: Qatar Central Bank (QCB) will study the topic of virtual currencies, governor Abdullah bin Saoud Al-Thani said on Tuesday.

In the future, there may be an opportunity to deal with these currencies in the country, Al Thani added.

QCB governor's remark came on the sidelines of his speech on Qatar’s schemes to establish a financial technology hub.

The QCB would not concentrate on only a single virtual currency, but it would look at the best practice for these currencies, Abdullah noted.

He added that the growth of fintech could force lenders to adjust their business models.
