Mubasher: The US president, Donald Trump, on Tuesday said he wants immigrants from all around the world to come to the US, in response to a question by a CNN news reporter.

Last week, Trump reportedly used a crude term when he told senators “why do we want all these people from 'shithole countries' coming here?” indicating immigrants from African countries and Haiti.

At the same time, Trump rejected a plan presented by a bipartisan team of senators on a compromise immigration deal that included cutting the visa lottery in half.

The US president later denied being racist, telling White House reporters “I'm the least racist person you have ever interviewed.”

When asked by CNN's Jim Acosta whether he declared that he wanted people from Norway rather than other countries, Trump asserted that the US welcomes immigrants from all countries, but refused to answer any further questions.
