Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced awarding two contracts for phases 1 and 2 of the Expo Roads Improvement Project at a value of around AED 1.36 billion ($370 million). 

The awarded phases include improving Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road at the intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and the construction of bridges on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, the RTA revealed.

“The Improvement of Roads Network for Expo is one of the biggest road projects currently undertaken by [the] RTA to meet the needs of hosting Expo 2020 in Dubai,” said Mattar Al Tayer RTA’s chairman.

The Expo Roads Improvement Project is meant to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, which will serve the event’s visitors as well as future projects in the area, the RTA added in a statement.  

The “RTA has charted out a comprehensive plan to meet the needs of hosting Expo 2020 in Dubai and ensure safe and smooth mobility for visitors of Expo and associated events,” Al Tayer concluded.
